Replace this seal when engine oil is leaking from the front crankshaft area, when the sealing lip is hardened or damaged upon inspection, or whenever the front cover is removed and the existing seal shows wear.
Installation Notes
Inspect the crankshaft sealing surface and front-cover bore before installation. Install the seal squarely and in the correct orientation — take care not to damage the sealing lip during installation. While the front cover is off, also inspect the front-cover gasket and adjacent water-pump seals for wear.
