Overview
The Mercury / Quicksilver 8M0162832 is the OEM screw-on oil filter for selected Mercury and Mariner FourStroke outboards from 8 HP through 30 HP. Confirm engine horsepower, model year, serial number, and existing filter part number before ordering. Similar Mercury FourStroke engines use several different oil filters depending on powerhead family and production year.
Service Interval
Mercury recommends replacing the oil filter as part of regular FourStroke outboard maintenance — approximately every 100 engine hours or during seasonal / winterization service. Follow the interval specified in your Mercury outboard owner’s manual.
Installation Notes
Remove the old filter and verify its sealing gasket came away with it. Clean the mounting surface, apply a light coat of clean engine oil to the new gasket, and thread the filter on by hand until snug. Run the engine and inspect around the filter for any seepage before returning to service.
