Service Interval

Installation Notes
- Warm the engine briefly before draining to help suspend contaminants in the oil
- Remove the old filter and confirm its sealing gasket comes away with it — a stuck gasket causes an immediate oil leak
- Clean the filter mounting surface thoroughly
- Apply a thin film of clean engine oil to the new filter gasket before installing
- Install per Mercury service procedure — typically hand-tight plus 3/4 turn
- Start the engine and inspect for leaks before returning to service
