Minn Kota PowerDrive – Bow-Mount Freshwater Trolling Motor
The PowerDrive 70 lb. with a 60" shaft is built for anglers running deeper-hulled boats who need maximum reach and serious thrust. The extra shaft length keeps the prop fully submerged on high-sided fiberglass hulls and larger aluminum boats, while 70 lbs. of 24V power handles big water, heavy current, and loaded-down hulls without breaking a sweat. Foot-pedal control keeps your hands free and your focus on the fish.
Key Features
- Electric Foot Pedal – Full speed, steering, and momentary/constant on-off control; keeps both hands free while fishing
- Deploy-Assist Lever – Raises and lowers the motor with one hand for fast, easy deployment from the bow
- Digital Maximizer™ – Draws only the power you need, delivering up to 5× longer run time per battery charge compared to non-digital motors
- Push-to-Test Battery Meter – Instant charge-level readout directly on the motor head
- Power Prop – Engineered for open-water performance and pushing through current or light vegetation
- Indestructible Composite Shaft – Guaranteed for life; flexes on impact and returns to true without bending or breaking
- Cool, Quiet Lower Unit – Runs cooler than conventional motors to extend service life and minimize noise on the water
Compatible Applications
- Freshwater fiberglass bass boats, walleye boats, and larger aluminum fishing boats with high-sided or deep hulls
- Bow-mount installations on boats in the 18–24 ft range where a 54" shaft would leave the prop too shallow
- Dual 12V deep-cycle marine batteries wired in series for 24V
- Anglers who prefer foot-pedal steering and need the extra shaft length for proper motor depth
- High-sided pontoon boats where a standard 54" shaft does not achieve adequate running depth

Parts Desk Insights
Best use case: The 60" shaft is the right call when a customer’s boat has a high bow or deep hull that puts the standard 54" shaft too close to the surface at running depth. This is most common on larger fiberglass bass boats, walleye rigs, and high-sided aluminum boats in the 20–24 ft range. The 70 lb. / 24V combination gives them the thrust to handle those heavier hulls in open water or current.
- Shaft selection rule of thumb: measure from the mounting surface to the waterline, then add 20–22" — if that total exceeds 54", the 60" shaft is the correct choice
- Requires two 12V deep-cycle marine batteries wired in series — confirm the customer has a 24V-ready electrical system before purchase
- The composite shaft is lifetime-guaranteed — no replacement shaft stocking required
- If the customer wants wireless control instead of a foot pedal, see the PowerDrive 70 lb. / 54" / 24V / Micro Remote
- For GPS anchor-lock or i-Pilot functionality, step up to the Terrova or Ultrex series
