Minn Kota Terrova – Bow-Mount Freshwater Trolling Motor
The Terrova 112 lb. with a 72" shaft is the ultimate bow-mount configuration for freshwater anglers running the tallest, heaviest hulls on the water. When a 60" shaft doesn’t reach deep enough, the 72" delivers the extra reach needed to keep the prop fully submerged on high-sided tournament rigs, large pontoons, and deep-V walleye boats. Pair that with 112 lbs. of 36V thrust, GPS Spot-Lock®, AutoPilot™, Dual Spectrum CHIRP sonar, and MEGA Down Imaging — all built into the motor — and you have the most capable freshwater trolling motor Minn Kota makes.
Key Features
- Spot-Lock® with Jog – GPS anchor holds your exact position on the water with precision; Jog lets you make small incremental position adjustments without dropping the lock
- AutoPilot™ – Automatically steers the boat in any direction you choose, keeping a straight heading hands-free
- Dual Spectrum CHIRP Sonar – Humminbird® CHIRP technology delivers more accurate, more detailed returns of fish, structure, and bottom composition than traditional sonar
- MEGA Down Imaging – Built-in Humminbird® MEGA Down Imaging transducer provides crystal-clear underwater imagery directly through the motor — no separate transducer mount required
- Handheld Remote & Electric Foot Pedal Included – Low-profile foot pedal with heel/toe steering, left/right buttons, Spot-Lock activation, rotary speed dial, and AutoPilot toggle; handheld remote for full wireless control from anywhere on the boat
- Mobile App Compatible – Control the Terrova directly from your Apple® or Android™ device via the Minn Kota app
- Digital Maximizer™ – Draws only the power you need, delivering up to 5× longer run time per battery charge compared to non-digital motors
- Weedless Wedge™ 2 Prop – Swept-back, flared blades power through weeds and debris without the battery-draining chopping of a standard prop
- Indestructible Composite Shaft – Guaranteed for life; flexes on impact and returns to true without bending or breaking
- One-Boat Network Enabled – Integrates with compatible Humminbird fish finders for unified boat control and shared sonar data
Compatible Applications
- Large freshwater fiberglass bass boats, deep-V walleye boats, and high-sided tournament rigs where a 60" shaft does not achieve adequate motor running depth
- Bow-mount installations requiring 36V power — three 12V deep-cycle marine batteries wired in series
- Boats in the 22–26+ ft range with high bows or deep hulls that demand maximum shaft reach
- Anglers who want integrated CHIRP and MEGA Down Imaging without a separate transducer installation
- One-Boat Network setups paired with compatible Humminbird fish finders
- Tournament anglers and serious freshwater fishermen who require GPS anchor-lock, precision boat control, and maximum thrust

Parts Desk Insights
Best use case: The 72" shaft is the correct choice when a customer’s bow height or hull depth puts the standard 60" shaft too close to the surface at running depth. This is most common on large deep-V walleye boats, high-sided fiberglass tournament rigs, and oversized pontoons in the 22–26 ft range. If a customer is already running the 60" Terrova and experiencing prop cavitation or loss of thrust in choppy water, the 72" is the upgrade path.
- Shaft selection rule of thumb: measure from the mounting surface to the waterline, then add 20–22" — if that total exceeds 60", the 72" shaft is the correct choice
- Requires three 12V deep-cycle marine batteries wired in series for 36V — confirm the customer’s electrical system is 36V-ready; this is the most common oversight on this model
- The built-in MEGA Down Imaging transducer eliminates a separate transducer mount — a meaningful installation advantage on boats with limited hull space or complex rigging
- One-Boat Network compatibility allows the Terrova to share sonar data with a compatible Humminbird unit — customers already running Humminbird electronics get the most out of this integration
- For customers who need 112 lb. thrust at 72" but don’t require CHIRP sonar, see the Terrova 112 lb. / 72" / MEGA Down Imaging only at a lower price point
