Rain-X Original Glass Water Repellent is a liquid treatment that bonds to glass surfaces to create a hydrophobic barrier, causing rain, spray, and salt water to bead up and sheet off at speed. Applied to boat windshields, helm enclosure windows, and other glass surfaces, it significantly improves visibility in rain and rough water conditions and reduces the need for wiper use at cruising speeds.
The formula is compatible with glass windshields and tempered glass panels. It applies by hand with a cloth, dries to a haze, and buffs off to a clear, slick finish. One application typically lasts several weeks depending on exposure and wash frequency.

At speeds above approximately 30 km/h, the water-repellent film alone provides enough clearing action that wipers become largely unnecessary in moderate rain, reducing wiper wear and motor load. It is also useful on helm enclosure glass panels and dodger windows on sailboats.
Application Notes: Apply to a clean, dry glass surface only. Residual salt, oxidation, or wax will reduce bonding. For best results, clean the glass thoroughly before application. Do not apply to acrylic (Plexiglas), polycarbonate, or plastic windows — Rain-X Original is formulated for glass only and can cloud or craze plastic glazing.
