Quicksilver Power Trim Anode 818298Q1 — Aluminum | Mercury & OptiMax Outboards
Protect your Mercury or OptiMax outboard’s power trim system from galvanic corrosion with this OEM Quicksilver aluminum sacrificial anode. Designed to corrode in place of your engine’s metal components, it shields the trim cylinder, housing, and surrounding hardware from the electrochemical damage that saltwater and brackish water environments accelerate.
This is the correct OEM replacement anode for a wide range of Mercury outboard engines from 30 HP through V-6 and OptiMax models. Aluminum construction makes it the right choice for saltwater use, where it outperforms zinc in most conditions and is the preferred material for mixed or full saltwater environments.

Best Use Case
Replace this anode whenever it has been reduced to approximately 50% of its original size, or at least once per season in saltwater environments. Inspect at every haul-out. Do not paint over anodes — they must remain bare metal to function. This anode is specifically for the power trim assembly; other areas of the engine and lower unit require their own dedicated anodes.
Parts Desk Insights
Trim anodes are frequently overlooked during routine service — customers often replace the lower unit anode but forget the trim cylinder. When a customer is ordering any Mercury outboard anode, ask whether they’ve inspected all anode locations on the engine, including the trim. Aluminum is the correct material for saltwater; if a customer asks about zinc, confirm their operating environment before substituting. For other Mercury/MerCruiser anode needs, see the Mercury MerCruiser Anode and Mercury Anode in our catalog.
