Scandvik ABA 13620 is a marine-grade #6 worm-drive hose clamp built entirely from 316 stainless steel — band, housing, and screw — for reliable performance in saltwater and engine-room environments. The smooth non-perforated band with rolled edges distributes clamping load evenly and reduces the risk of cutting into marine hose under sustained tension or vibration. The vibration-resistant thread geometry and hex-head worm screw allow for consistent tightening and re-tightening. Supplied as a manufacturer-boxed pack of 10 clamps.
Clamping Range & Selection
- Minimum clamping diameter: 1/2 in. / 13 mm
- Maximum clamping diameter: 13/16 in. / 20 mm
- Band width: 9 mm / approx. 0.35 in.
- Recommended tightening torque: 20–35 in-lb / 2.3–4.0 N·m
Select the clamp by the outside diameter of the hose after it is fitted over the barb or nipple, not by nominal hose inside diameter alone. If the assembled hose-and-fitting diameter falls outside this range, use the next appropriate ABA clamp size.
Typical Applications
- Raw-water cooling hoses
- Engine cooling system hoses
- Freshwater plumbing connections
- Bilge-pump hoses
- Sanitation plumbing
- General marine hose and pipe connections requiring all-stainless hardware
Key Construction Details
- All-316 stainless steel band, housing, and screw — no zinc or mixed-alloy components
- Smooth non-perforated band reduces stress concentration on hose surface
- Rolled band edges minimize hose wear under sustained tension
- Vibration-resistant 6° thread pitch for secure long-term retention
- 9/32 in. hex-head worm screw for standard tool access
When to Replace Hose Clamps
- Screw mechanism binds, slips, or no longer advances
- Band is distorted, kinked, or cracked
- Any visible surface corrosion or pitting
- Housing is cracked or deformed
- Clamp can no longer maintain proper tension after tightening
- Hose has been removed during major service and clamp condition is uncertain
Installation Notes
- Position the clamp squarely over the hose, behind the fitting bead where present
- Do not position the band partly over the open end of the fitting
- Tighten evenly to 20–35 in-lb / 2.3–4.0 N·m — do not overtighten on softer hose materials
- Follow the hose and equipment manufacturer’s installation specification
- Re-inspect connections after initial service hours where accessible

Parts Desk Insights
Best use case: ABA 13620 is the right clamp for any marine plumbing connection in the 13–20 mm / 1/2–13/16 in. range where full corrosion resistance is required — particularly raw-water, cooling, and bilge-pump connections exposed to saltwater or engine-room moisture. The all-316 stainless construction, smooth band, and rolled edges make it a meaningful upgrade over conventional perforated clamps in a marine environment. The 10-pack configuration is well suited to full-boat re-clamp projects or keeping stock on board for repairs.
Common issue: The most frequent selection error is measuring by nominal hose inside diameter rather than the actual outside diameter of the hose once it’s fitted over the barb. A 1/2 in. ID hose on a barbed fitting will have a larger outside diameter that may push outside the 13–20 mm range of this clamp — always measure the assembled connection before selecting a size. Also note that the bulk 50-pack version of the same clamp is ABA 13020, which may be more economical for large-quantity re-clamping jobs.
