Sea-Dog Folding Grapnel Anchor – 22 lb. | Boats 22–30 ft.

Sea-Dog Folding Grapnel Anchor – 22 lb. | Boats 22–30 ft.

The Sea-Dog Folding Grapnel Anchor in 22 lb. is the flagship of the range — built for larger powerboats, cruisers, and sportfishers in the 22–30 ft. range that demand serious holding power in mixed, rocky, or hard-bottom anchorages. Four forged flukes fold flat against the shank for compact, space-saving storage and lock securely in both the open and closed positions.

The grapnel design provides effective holding power across a wide range of bottom types including mud, sand, gravel, and rock — making it significantly more versatile than a standard fluke anchor in mixed or hard-bottom conditions. At 22 lb., it also makes a capable kedge or storm anchor on larger vessels where a compact, stowable secondary is needed.

Note: Recommended line and chain sizes are shown in product specifications. Line and chain are not included.

Parts Desk Insights

The 22 lb. Sea-Dog Folding Grapnel is the top of the range and the right choice for owners of larger vessels who want the versatility of a grapnel design at a size that provides meaningful holding capacity. The grapnel excels in rocky, gravelly, and mixed-bottom conditions where a standard fluke anchor won’t set reliably — making it a particularly valuable choice for boaters who anchor in areas with varied or unpredictable bottom types. The folding design keeps it compact and manageable despite its weight, and the lockable flukes make it safe to stow in anchor lockers without risk of snagging. Line and chain are not included — recommended sizes are 3/8” line (150 ft.) and 1/4” chain (10–20 ft.). For smaller vessels, the full Sea-Dog Folding Grapnel range is available in 1.5 lb., 3.5 lb., 5.5 lb., 7 lb., 9 lb., 13 lb., and 18 lb.
