The Seachoice 22404 is the replacement 10-micron filter element for Seachoice ClearChoice water-separating fuel filter systems. When it’s time to service your separator, swap out the element and reuse the existing clear collection bowl and hardware — no need to replace the entire assembly. For outboard engine use only.
Element only — does not include the clear collection bowl, mounting bracket, fittings, or complete separator assembly.

Fitment Notice: Confirm your existing separator assembly is a Seachoice 22401 or 22403 ClearChoice system before ordering. This element is designed for outboard applications only and is not a universal replacement for all separator brands or configurations.
When to Replace
- During routine annual or seasonal fuel-system maintenance
- When water accumulation is visible in the clear collection bowl
- When contamination or debris buildup is visible through the bowl
- When restricted fuel flow or hard starting may indicate a clogged element
The transparent bowl on ClearChoice systems makes it easy to monitor filter condition between service intervals — check it regularly rather than waiting for performance symptoms.
Installation Notes
- Remove the reusable clear bowl from the old filter element
- Inspect the bowl and sealing surfaces for cracks, deposits, or deterioration; clean as needed
- Install the clear bowl onto the new 22404 element per the separator-system service instructions
- Reinstall the assembly, prime the fuel system, and inspect all seals and connections carefully for leaks before operating the engine

The most important thing to confirm before ordering is that your existing separator is a Seachoice 22401 or 22403 ClearChoice assembly — this element is not universal. The biggest advantage of the ClearChoice system is the reusable clear bowl: keep it, inspect it, clean it, and just replace the 22404 element at service time rather than buying a whole new separator kit. The most common customer mistake is ordering a complete separator kit when only the element needs replacing, or discarding the reusable bowl with the old element.
