Reliable Holding. Built for the Shock of the Sea.
When your boat is at anchor, the line between a peaceful night and a dragged anchor is the quality of your rode. This Seachoice 3-Strand Twisted Nylon Anchor Line is engineered specifically to absorb the dynamic shock loads that occur as waves, wind, and current tug at your boat — protecting your anchor hardware, cleats, and bow fitting from the stress that rigid lines transfer directly.
At 3/8 in. diameter and 50 ft. in length, this line is sized for day anchoring on smaller powerboats, runabouts, and fishing boats. The 3-strand twisted construction gives it natural elasticity and makes it easy to splice, coil, and handle on deck. It arrives with a professionally spliced galvanized thimble at one end, ready to shackle directly to your anchor chain or anchor.
Key Features

- Professionally spliced galvanized thimble — ready to connect to chain or anchor shackle
- White colour — easy to spot on deck and in the water

- Part Number: 50-40691
Best Use Cases
- Day anchoring on smaller powerboats — ideal for runabouts, fishing boats, and centre consoles up to approximately 20 ft.
- Lunch hook setups — quick stops in calm to moderate conditions where a full rode isn't needed
- Spare or backup anchor line — keep one aboard as a second rode for emergencies or kedging off a sandbar
- Replacing worn or damaged anchor line — direct drop-in for standard 3/8 in. anchor rode setups

Parts Desk Insights
- Best for: Smaller powerboats and day anchoring in calm to moderate conditions — the 50 ft. length suits shallow to mid-depth anchorages where a 5:1 to 7:1 scope is achievable
- Thimble note: The galvanized thimble protects the splice from chafe where it meets a shackle — always use a shackle, not a knot, at this end
- Sizing guidance: 3/8 in. is the minimum recommended diameter for boats up to approximately 20 ft.; step up to 1/2 in. for heavier boats or overnight anchoring
- 3-strand vs. braid: 3-strand nylon stretches more than double-braid, making it better for shock absorption but slightly harder to handle in cold or wet conditions
- Pairing tip: Add 4–6 ft. of anchor chain between this line and your anchor to improve holding angle and protect the line from bottom abrasion
