Best use case: The 4018 is the right antenna when range is the primary requirement — commercial fishing vessels, offshore sportfishers, charter boats, and any vessel operating at distance from shore where VHF coverage needs to be maximized. The 9 dB gain advantage is most meaningful on open water where line-of-sight distance to other vessels and coast stations is the limiting factor.
