The Sherwood 29000K is a heavy-duty flexible impeller service kit for compatible Sherwood 29000-series raw-water pumps. Its large 12-blade neoprene impeller uses a 10-tooth splined hub to deliver the high-volume seawater flow required by large marine diesel cooling systems. The strongest documented engine association is through the Sherwood G2902X pump, which is used on select Caterpillar 3406E, C15 and C18 marine engines. The impeller is also cross-referenced to Caterpillar 296-8388, Cummins 4933742 and John Deere DZ108622. Exact compatibility must be confirmed through the installed pump model or engine cooling-system parts diagram.
Fitment Notice
Do not select this impeller from engine make or displacement alone. Confirm that the installed pump specifically calls for Sherwood 29000K and uses:
- A 95 mm impeller diameter
- A 102 mm impeller width
- Twelve flexible blades
- A 10-tooth splined hub
- The Sherwood 29000-series pump configuration

When This Part Needs Replacement
Replace the impeller when:
- Raw-water output becomes weak or inconsistent
- The engine begins running hotter than normal

- The blades are cracked, torn, hardened or permanently bent

- The splined hub shows wear or begins slipping
- The pump has operated without an adequate water supply

Because this impeller serves high-output cooling systems, even partial blade damage can significantly reduce water flow.
Installation Notes
Before installation:
- Shut down the engine and isolate the starting system
- Close the raw-water seacock
- Remove the pump cover and sealing components
- Use the appropriate puller system to remove the old impeller
- Retrieve all broken blade fragments from the pump and downstream cooling circuit
- Inspect the pump cam, cover, housing and shaft splines
- Lubricate the new impeller with glycerine, soapy water or another approved non-petroleum lubricant
- Align the 10-tooth spline carefully
- Install the supplied gasket and O-ring
- Reassemble the pump according to the Sherwood technical guide
- Reopen the seacock and confirm strong water flow before placing the engine under load
Never operate a flexible impeller pump dry.
