The Sierra RS20050 is a Contura marine rotary switch with a three-position Off-On-(On) configuration labeled Off / 1 / 1&2. This is a specialized battery management switch with a deliberate mix of maintained and momentary positions: Position Off disconnects all banks, Position 1 connects Battery Bank 1 only (maintained — stays in position when released), and Position 1&2 connects both banks simultaneously (momentary — springs back to Position 1 when released).
The momentary behavior on the 1&2 position is intentional — it prevents accidentally leaving both battery banks connected continuously, which could drain a reserve bank if the primary bank is depleted. This makes the RS20050 a more conservative battery management switch than the RS20040 (On-On-On, all positions maintained), suited to installations where protecting the reserve bank is a priority. The patented mechanism translates rotary motion into linear switching action, and a secondary cam provides definitive detent positions. Sealed to IP67 for above-panel components. Fits industry-standard panel openings.
