4-Blade Dual Geometry Stainless Steel Propeller – High-Pitch Option for Loaded Performance Applications
The Express Mach4 14x23 is a 4-blade stainless steel propeller engineered for boats running 90–300+ hp engines with 4.75" gearcases. At 23" pitch, it is the high-pitch option in the Mach4 14" diameter range — suited to lighter, faster hulls running the Mach4 platform that can carry the additional pitch load and still reach the engine’s recommended WOT RPM range.
Like all Mach4 props, it uses a patented Dual Geometry design — two blade profiles in a single hub — to deliver the acceleration, stern lift, and rough-water stability of a 4-blade while maintaining top-end speed on par with a comparable 3-blade prop. Two blades use an aggressive variable-rake geometry for explosive hole shot and sharp cornering; the other two use an offshore-style design for high speed and maximum stern lift.
Built from proprietary TP17™ stainless steel — 20% higher chromium content, ~250% stronger and 5× more durable than standard stainless — with large free-flowing exhaust ports (40% more exhaust area than typical competitors) to reduce backpressure and extract maximum power.
Key Features
- Dual Geometry design — two blade profiles in one hub for 4-blade handling with 3-blade top-end speed
- Unprecedented hole shot, bow lift, and rough-water stability
- Lifts the hull higher under load — maintains speed when fully loaded where a 3-blade can lose up to 3 mph
- Proprietary TP17™ stainless steel — 20% more chromium, ~250% stronger, 5× more durable than standard stainless
- Large free-flowing exhaust ports — 40% more exhaust area for reduced backpressure
- Right-hand (standard) rotation
- 14" diameter × 23" pitch, 4-blade configuration
Ideal Applications
The Mach4 14x23 excels on lighter performance hulls, centre consoles, and sterndrive boats where the 4-blade’s handling and stern lift advantages are desired alongside maximum top-end speed. It is also well-suited to watersports tow boats and bay boats where load-carrying performance is a priority and the hull can support the higher pitch.
Engine Compatibility
Fits a wide range of outboard and sterndrive applications including Cox®, Evinrude®, Honda®, Johnson®, Mariner®, Mercury®, MerCruiser®, Nissan®, OMC®, OXE®, Parsun®, Suzuki®, Tohatsu®, Volvo Penta®, and Yamaha® engines. Always verify fitment using the manufacturer’s application chart.
Required Hub Kit
A hub/installation kit is required and sold separately. Use a 500 Series Hub Kit for engines under 200 hp, or the 700 Series Hub Kit for engines 200 hp and above. Refer to the application chart for the correct part number for your engine.
Other Pitch Options in This Series
- Express Mach4 14x21 – RH Rotation (one pitch step down)
- Express Mach4 14x21 – LH Rotation
- Express Mach4 13x19 – RH Rotation
Parts Desk Insights
Best Use Case: The Mach4 14x23 is the right recommendation when a customer is already running the Mach4 14x21 and their WOT RPM is consistently above the engine manufacturer’s recommended range — meaning the engine is under-propped and can handle more pitch. The 23" pitch will pull RPM down into the correct range and add top-end speed on a hull that can support it. Confirm WOT RPM before recommending this pitch — over-propping causes premature engine wear.
Pitch Selection Rule of Thumb: Each inch of pitch change moves WOT RPM by approximately 150–200 RPM. If a customer is running 200–400 RPM above the top of their WOT range on the 21", the 23" is the correct step up. If they’re at or below the top of their range, stay with the Mach4 14x21.
3-Blade vs. 4-Blade Guidance: On a lightly loaded boat, a 3-blade is typically the faster prop. The Mach4 shines when the boat is loaded — it can maintain speed where a 3-blade loses up to 3 mph under full load. If the customer prioritises outright top speed on a light hull, the Express Mach3 14.25x23 may be worth comparing.
Hub Kit Note: Always confirm the hub kit part number from the application chart. The MasterGuard Model 517 is a common fit for many 500 Series applications.
