Technical FAQ
Is this a complete two-part kit?
Yes. The system uses Y404 bright-white base and Y414 curing agent mixed 3:1 by volume.
Can it be applied over one-part paint?
No. Epoxy Primekote should not be applied directly over one-part paints.
Does it need to be thinned?
Yes. Thin by at least 25% with the reducer specified for the chosen application method.
Can it be used over clear epoxy?
Yes, after the epoxy has fully cured and the surface has been cleaned to remove amine blush and properly abraded.
Parts Desk Insights
Best use case: Choose this quart kit when building a smooth, sandable white undercoat beneath a compatible topside finish or when resurfacing a smaller fiberglass, clear-epoxy, bilge or locker project.
Most common mistake: Skipping induction time, required thinning or sanding between coats can compromise the finish. Surface preparation is just as important as mixing the two components correctly.
Sizing and fitment guidance: This listing is the 1 US quart kit. Estimate the number of kits from the application method, required coat count and stated coverage, allowing extra material for surface texture and application loss.
