The Xantrex PROwatt SW 2000 is a compact 12-volt pure sine wave inverter designed to operate household appliances, electronics and motor-driven equipment from a battery bank. Although sold as the PROwatt SW 2000, Xantrex rates this model for 1,800 watts of continuous AC output and up to 3,000 watts of peak surge capacity. It is suitable for marine vessels, recreational vehicles, commercial trucks, service vehicles and other mobile power applications requiring clean 120-volt AC power.
Key Features
- Clean true sine wave output for sensitive electronics and motor loads
- 1,800 watts of continuous AC output
- 3,000-watt peak surge capacity for demanding startup loads
- Operates from a nominal 12-volt DC battery bank
- Dual GFCI-protected 120-volt AC receptacles
- Built-in USB Type-A charging port
- Digital display shows battery voltage, AC output power and fault codes
- Optional remote-panel connection
- Ignition-control capability when used with the optional remote

Fitment Notice
The PROwatt SW 2000 is designed for a nominal 12-volt battery bank and must not be connected to a 24-volt system. Confirm the voltage and wattage requirements of all connected appliances before ordering.
At full output, this inverter can draw approximately 170 amps or more from a 12-volt battery bank after inverter losses are considered. Battery capacity, conductor size, cable length, terminal hardware, disconnect rating and overcurrent protection must be selected for the actual installation.
This is an inverter only. It does not contain a battery charger or automatic shore-power transfer switch.
Installation Notes
Install the inverter in a dry, well-ventilated location protected from water, battery gases, excessive heat and fuel vapours. Keep the DC battery cables as short as practical and use properly sized marine-grade conductors.
Xantrex recommends a 250-amp DC fuse. The final fuse type, conductor size and disconnect arrangement must follow the installation manual and applicable marine or vehicle electrical standards.
The inverter’s AC loads can be connected directly to its GFCI receptacles. Installations requiring automatic transfer between inverter power and shore or generator power require the optional PROwatt SW Inline Transfer Relay or another correctly rated transfer system.
Optional Accessories
- Xantrex PROwatt SW Remote Panel
- Xantrex PROwatt SW Inline Transfer Relay
- Xantrex 50-foot remote cable – 31-6262-00
The optional remote panel allows the inverter to be operated from another location and supports ignition-controlled shutdown in compatible vehicle installations.
When This Product Needs Replacement
Inspect or replace the inverter if it:
- Repeatedly shuts down under loads it previously operated
- No longer produces stable AC output
- Displays recurring low-voltage, overload or over-temperature faults
- Has damaged GFCI receptacles or DC terminals
- Shows signs of overheating, moisture intrusion or internal corrosion
- Produces unusual noise or odour during operation
- Fails after the battery bank and external wiring have been verified
Before replacing the inverter, test the batteries under load and inspect the DC fuse, disconnect, cable terminals and voltage drop. Weak batteries or undersized conductors can create symptoms similar to inverter failure.

Parts Desk Insight
The PROwatt SW 2000 is labelled as a 2,000-watt-class inverter, but the current official Xantrex specification lists 1,800 watts of continuous output and 3,000 watts of peak surge capacity. Customers requiring a full 2,000 watts continuously should size the inverter according to the official continuous rating rather than the model name.
