The Xantrex Freedom HF 1800 combines a 1,800-watt modified sine wave inverter, a 40-amp three-stage battery charger and a 30-amp automatic AC transfer relay in one compact 12-volt unit. Designed for boats, recreational vehicles, commercial trucks and specialty vehicles, it supplies onboard 115-volt AC power from the battery bank and automatically switches to shore or generator power when an approved AC source becomes available.

Certification and Marine Installation Notice
The Freedom HF 1800 is ETL certified to CSA C22.2 No. 107.1 and UL 458. Marine Supplement compliance requires Xantrex drip shield part number 808-1050.
Marine installations must follow the current Xantrex installation instructions and applicable ABYC requirements for battery protection, conductor sizing, grounding, AC wiring, equipment location and ignition protection.
Fitment Notice
Confirm that the installation uses a nominal 12-volt battery bank. The Freedom HF 1800 is not compatible with a 24-volt battery system.
This model produces modified sine wave power rather than true sine wave power. Verify that each connected appliance is approved for modified sine wave operation. Certain variable-speed motors, sensitive electronics, timing circuits, medical equipment and electronically controlled appliances may require a true sine wave inverter.
When This Product Needs Replacement
Inspect or replace the inverter/charger if it:
- Repeatedly shuts down under loads it previously supported
- No longer switches correctly between external AC and inverter operation
- Fails to charge a verified serviceable battery bank
- Produces recurring overload, low-voltage or over-temperature faults
- Has damaged AC or DC terminals
- Shows evidence of moisture intrusion, overheating or internal corrosion
- Has an unreadable or non-responsive display
Before replacing the unit, test the battery bank, incoming AC supply, DC cable voltage drop, fuses, circuit breakers and terminal connections. Weak batteries and undersized or loose conductors can cause symptoms similar to inverter failure.
Installation Notes
Install the Freedom HF in a dry, ventilated location protected from water, battery gases, excessive heat and fuel vapours. Use marine-grade DC conductors, correctly rated overcurrent protection and an accessible battery disconnect.
Keep battery cables as short as practical and size them for the inverter's full DC demand and installation length. Follow the Xantrex installation guide for mounting orientation, ventilation clearance, chassis grounding and AC input and output wiring.
Install drip shield 808-1050 when required for UL 458 Marine Supplement compliance.
