The Xantrex Freedom X 3000 is a compact 12-volt true sine wave inverter designed to provide dependable 120-volt AC power aboard boats, recreational vehicles, commercial trucks and specialty vehicles. It delivers 3,000 watts of continuous output at temperatures up to 40°C and up to 6,000 watts of surge capacity for starting demanding appliances such as refrigerators and microwaves. The integrated 30-amp transfer relay automatically switches connected AC circuits between external shore power and inverter power.

Key Features

  • Produces 3,000 watts of continuous true sine wave AC power
  • Delivers up to 6,000 watts of surge power for starting motor-driven and high-demand loads
  • Supplies clean true sine wave output suitable for sensitive electronics and appliances
  • Selectable 108, 110 or 120-volt AC output
  • Configurable 50 or 60 Hz output frequency
  • Integrated 30-amp AC transfer relay
  • Ignition-control input can shut the inverter down when the vehicle ignition is switched off
  • Quick-connect AC input and output terminals simplify hardwired installation
  • Compatible with optional Bluetooth and wired remote panels
  • Maintains full rated output from -20°C to 40°C, with output derating above 40°C

Application Compatibility

Designed for 12-volt DC electrical systems requiring high-capacity onboard AC power, including:

  • Recreational and commercial marine electrical systems
  • Motorhomes, travel trailers and camper vans
  • Heavy-duty and commercial trucks
  • Mobile service and work vehicles
  • Specialty and emergency vehicles
  • Off-grid battery systems requiring a standalone inverter with an AC transfer relay

This model is an inverter only. It does not include an integrated battery charger.

Certification and Marine Installation Notice

The Freedom X 3000 is ETL listed to CSA 107.1, UL 458 and the UL 458 Marine Supplement. Xantrex specifies the 808-1050 drip shield for installations requiring compliance with the UL 458 Marine Supplement. Marine installations must also follow applicable ABYC electrical requirements, including correct circuit protection, grounding, cable sizing and equipment placement.

Fitment Notice

Confirm that the vessel or vehicle uses a 12-volt battery bank and that the batteries, DC cables, fuse, disconnect and charging system can support a nominal full-load current of approximately 288 amps. Selecting the correct inverter requires consideration of both continuous and starting loads, available battery-bank capacity and the rating of the connected shore-power circuit.

When This Product Needs Replacement

Inspect or replace the inverter if it repeatedly shuts down under loads it previously supported, fails to transfer correctly between shore power and inverter power, produces recurring low-voltage or over-temperature faults, develops communication problems or shows evidence of damaged terminals, overheating, corrosion or internal electrical failure. Battery condition and voltage drop through the DC cabling should be tested before replacing the inverter.

Installation Notes

Install the inverter in a dry, ventilated location protected from water, fuel vapours and excessive heat. Use correctly sized marine-grade DC conductors, a properly rated Class T or manufacturer-approved battery fuse and a readily accessible battery disconnect. Keep DC cable runs as short as practical and follow the Xantrex installation guide for mounting orientation, grounding, ventilation clearance and AC wiring.

Parts Desk Insight

A 3,000-watt inverter places a substantial load on a 12-volt battery bank. At full output, this model can draw approximately 288 amps before allowing for cable losses, so battery capacity, cable size and overcurrent protection are just as important as the inverter rating. For marine use, confirm whether the optional drip shield and remote monitoring accessories are required for the planned installation.
