This impeller is dimensionally similar to the Jabsco 17954-0001-P MerCruiser Bravo Neoprene Impeller Kit, but the drive system is different. The 17937 uses a 5/8-inch spline hub, while the 17954 uses a larger single-flat D-shaped drive. Confirm the shaft connection before ordering.
When This Part Needs Replacement
Replace the impeller when:
- Exhaust-water discharge becomes weak
- Engine temperature begins rising
- The pump struggles to prime
- Blades become cracked, hardened or permanently folded
- Blade tips are torn or missing
- The spline hub becomes loose or damaged
- The pump has operated dry
- Annual preventive cooling-system service is due
Flexible impellers should be inspected regularly and replaced before complete failure, particularly in engine-cooling applications.
Installation Notes
- Stop the engine and isolate the starting circuit.
- Close the raw-water intake seacock.
- Remove the pump cover and old gasket or O-ring.
- Pull the impeller using an appropriate impeller-removal tool or suitable pliers gripping the hub.
- Avoid prying against the pump housing or cover sealing surface.
- Recover missing vane fragments from hoses, oil coolers and heat exchangers.
- Inspect the pump chamber, cam, cover plate, shaft and splines.
- Apply suitable impeller lubricant before installation.
- Align the brass spline hub carefully with the pump shaft.
- Install the correct cover gasket or sealing components.
- Reopen the seacock and verify strong cooling-water flow immediately after startup.
Neoprene impellers are intended for engine cooling and fresh- or saltwater transfer where only minor oil or diesel contamination is present.

This is the spline-drive version of the large Profile Y impeller. Its 65 mm diameter and 51 mm width are shared by other Jabsco impellers, so the critical identifying feature is the 5/8-inch brass spline hub.
