A complete magnesium anode service kit for the Volvo Penta SX-A and DPS sterndrive in freshwater. Magnesium is the only sacrificial metal with sufficient electrochemical activity to protect your drive in freshwater — where low water conductivity renders zinc and aluminum anodes essentially passive and ineffective.
Both anode castings and the fastening hardware are included, so the job can be completed in one visit without hunting down separate components.

The CMSXAKITM is the correct kit for SX-A and DPS drives operating in freshwater. This is one of the most common anode mistakes on freshwater lakes — zinc and aluminum kits get installed because they’re more familiar, but neither alloy provides meaningful protection in low-conductivity freshwater. If you’re seeing corrosion on a freshwater Volvo Penta drive that has zinc or aluminum anodes, switching to magnesium is almost always the fix.
Replacing the full kit at each haulout is best practice. Mixing old and new anodes — or mixing alloys — creates uneven sacrifice rates across the drive and can leave some areas underprotected. For saltwater or brackish water, use the CMSXAKITA aluminum kit instead.
