The CMX05 is one of the most common shaft anode sizes for mid-range inboard vessels. The 1-1/4" shaft is a popular diameter on single-screw cruisers and workboats, so this size moves frequently. The most common ordering mistake is confusing the 1-1/4" CMX05 with the 1-1/8" CMX04 or the 1-3/8" CMX06 — always measure your shaft diameter with calipers before ordering rather than relying on a visual estimate.
If you need more sacrificial mass between haulouts — for example on a vessel that stays in the water year-round — consider the CMX05A extended heavy version. For brackish water, the aluminum version is a better choice than zinc; for freshwater, use the CMX05M magnesium version.
