PSS Dripless Shaft Seal — 1-3/8" Shaft × 2-1/4" Stern Tube
The PSS 02-138-214 is a Type A mechanical face-type dripless shaft seal for inboard vessels running a 1-3/8" propeller shaft and a 2-1/4" to 2-3/8" stern tube. A stationary carbon-graphite flange presses against a rotating stainless-steel rotor to form a positive seal — no drip, no packing adjustment, no shaft wear from a conventional stuffing box.

- Secure all clamps and set screws; configure vent or water-feed connection as required
- Verify at least 7.5" of clear shaft space is available before the coupler or cutlass bearing

The 02-138-214 shares the same 2-1/4" to 2-3/8" stern tube range as the 1-1/4" 02-114-214 — the only difference is the shaft bore. If you’re unsure which you have, measure the shaft with calipers rather than relying on the boat’s documentation, as 1-1/4" and 1-3/8" shafts are easy to confuse by eye. Measuring the shaft log OD before ordering is equally important to avoid a seal that fits the shaft but not the stern tube.
