The 47-3089 is a complete Sierra 18-3089 impeller repair kit for compatible Johnson Pump crank-mounted raw-water pumps used in Volvo Penta and other marine-engine cooling systems. It replaces Johnson Pump service kit 09-45825 and includes the main components required to renew the impeller and pump sealing surfaces without replacing the complete pump assembly.

Fitment Notice
Before ordering, confirm that the installed pump uses Johnson service kit 09-45825 or Sierra 18-3089. The replacement impeller should measure approximately 57 mm in diameter by 48 mm wide and use a 12-spline hub.
Do not select this kit solely by engine make or the appearance of the impeller. Similar Johnson and Volvo Penta impellers can share the same diameter and blade count while differing in width, hub configuration or required sealing components.
When This Part Needs Replacement
Replace the impeller kit when:
- Cooling-water flow becomes weak or intermittent
- The engine begins operating hotter than normal
- The pump struggles to prime
- The impeller blades are cracked, torn or permanently curled
- The neoprene has become hard or brittle
- Water leaks from the pump shaft seal
- The pump has operated without water
- Annual or seasonal cooling-system service is due
If pieces are missing from the old impeller, inspect downstream hoses, coolers and heat exchangers for trapped fragments before restarting the engine.
Installation Notes
- Disconnect the battery and close the raw-water intake seacock.
- Note the pump-cover and hose orientation before disassembly.
- Remove the old impeller without damaging the pump bore.
- Inspect the shaft, cam, bearings and cover plate for excessive wear.
- Remove the old shaft seal carefully to avoid scoring the seal bore.
- Install the new lip seal in the correct direction.
- Lightly lubricate the impeller with glycerine or a suitable water-based impeller lubricant.
- Align the 12-spline hub carefully with the pump shaft.
- Install the supplied gasket and cover screws.
- Tighten the cover screws evenly.
- Restore the raw-water supply before starting the engine.
- Verify strong cooling-water flow and inspect the pump for leaks.
A pump with a damaged shaft, loose bearings or a deeply scored housing may require complete replacement rather than an impeller service kit.
