The Sierra 3055 is a precision-fit replacement impeller for Johnson and Evinrude (OMC) outboard water pumps. Designed specifically for Johnson/Evinrude outboard applications — always confirm fitment against Sierra's current application guide by engine horsepower, model, and year before ordering. OMC outboards are particularly sensitive to impeller condition; a worn or collapsed impeller can cause rapid overheating and powerhead damage. Replace on a seasonal schedule or every 100–200 hours of operation, whichever comes first. During service: remove the lower unit, inspect the pump housing and wear plate for scoring, and replace the housing if grooves are present. Lubricate the impeller with dish soap or glycerin only — never petroleum-based products. Never run the engine out of water, even briefly during startup. After installation, verify water flow from the tell-tale before returning the boat to service.
