WIX Oil Filter 51365 – Honda Marine, Tohatsu & Yanmar Diesel
The WIX 51365 is a compact, full-flow spin-on lubricating oil filter used in select marine outboards, Yanmar diesel engines, and numerous automotive, industrial, and equipment applications. Its enhanced-cellulose media captures damaging contaminants while maintaining the oil flow needed to protect bearings and other lubricated engine components.
The filter measures approximately 2.58 inches high by 2.69 inches in diameter and uses an M20 × 1.5 mounting thread. It includes an anti-drainback valve and an internal bypass valve to help maintain lubrication during startup and when filter restriction increases.

Fitment Notice
Confirm the number printed on the existing filter or verify the engine model and serial number before ordering. Engines within the same horsepower or model family may use different oil filters depending on production year and regional specification. Do not select this filter by its M20 × 1.5 thread alone — filter height, gasket dimensions, bypass pressure, and anti-drainback-valve requirements must also match the engine’s lubrication system.
When to Replace
Replace the oil filter whenever the engine oil is changed or at the service interval specified by the engine manufacturer. More frequent replacement may be appropriate for engines exposed to extended trolling or low-speed operation, frequent short operating cycles, high loads or elevated operating temperatures, fuel dilution, moisture or oil contamination, long periods of seasonal storage, or internal engine repairs. Replace the filter immediately if its housing is dented, heavily corroded, or leaking.
Installation Notes
Remove the old filter and confirm its sealing gasket has not remained on the mounting surface. Clean the filter head and lightly lubricate the new gasket with clean engine oil. Install by hand to the manufacturer’s tightening specification — do not overtighten. After installation: refill with the specified oil, start the engine and verify normal oil pressure, inspect for leakage, shut down and allow oil to settle, then recheck and correct the oil level.

Parts Desk Insights
The WIX 51365 fits several popular marine applications, but its compact size is shared by many filters with different internal specifications. Matching the old filter number and engine serial number is safer than ordering by thread size or outside appearance. The Yanmar OEM cross-references listed above are particularly useful for confirming fitment on Yanmar marine diesels.
