The Xantrex Freedom HF 1000 combines a 1,000-watt modified sine wave inverter, a 20-amp three-stage battery charger and a 30-amp automatic AC transfer relay in one compact unit. Designed for nominal 12-volt electrical systems, it supplies 115-volt AC power from the battery bank and automatically switches to shore or generator power when an acceptable external AC source becomes available. Xantrex identifies the Freedom HF for boats, recreational vehicles, commercial trucks and specialty vehicles.

Certification and Marine Installation Notice
The Freedom HF is ETL certified to CSA C22.2 No. 107.1 and UL 458. Compliance with the UL 458 Marine Supplement requires Xantrex drip shield part number 808-1050.
Marine installation must follow the Xantrex installation guide and applicable requirements for conductor sizing, battery overcurrent protection, grounding, AC wiring, ventilation and equipment location.
Fitment Notice
The Freedom HF 1000 is designed for a nominal 12-volt battery bank and must not be connected to a 24-volt system.
This unit produces modified sine wave power rather than true sine wave power. Some variable-speed tools, electronically controlled appliances, small battery chargers, lighting equipment and sensitive electronics may not operate correctly and could be damaged. Confirm modified sine wave compatibility with the equipment manufacturer before connection.
At full output, the inverter can draw approximately 90 amps or more from the 12-volt battery bank after conversion losses are considered. Battery capacity, conductor size, cable length, terminal hardware, fuse rating and disconnect capacity must be selected for the actual installation.
When This Product Needs Replacement
Inspect or replace the inverter/charger if it:
- Repeatedly shuts down under loads it previously supported
- Fails to transfer correctly between external AC and inverter power
- No longer charges a verified serviceable battery bank
- Produces recurring overload, low-voltage or over-temperature faults
- Has damaged AC receptacles, DC terminals or communication connections
- Shows evidence of overheating, moisture intrusion or internal corrosion
- Has an unreadable or unresponsive display
Before replacing the unit, test the battery bank, incoming AC supply, DC cable voltage drop, external fuses, circuit breakers and terminal connections. Weak batteries or undersized conductors can produce symptoms similar to inverter failure.
Installation Notes
Install the Freedom HF in a dry, ventilated location protected from water, battery gases, excessive heat and fuel vapours. Use correctly sized marine-grade DC conductors, properly rated overcurrent protection and an accessible battery disconnect.
The unit may supply loads through its dual GFCI receptacle or be integrated into a hardwired AC system. Follow the Xantrex installation guide for mounting orientation, AC input and output wiring, chassis grounding, battery protection and ventilation clearance.
The detachable display can be moved to a more accessible location using a compatible communication cable. Install marine drip shield 808-1050 when required for UL 458 Marine Supplement compliance.

Parts Desk Insight
The Freedom HF 1000 is a compact all-in-one choice for smaller 12-volt systems that need moderate AC power, automatic shore-power transfer and basic battery charging. It should not be confused with the Freedom HF 1055: both models provide 1,000 watts of inverter output, but the 806-1020 includes a 20-amp charger while the 806-1055 provides a 55-amp charger. Customers needing more inverter output may consider the Freedom HF 1800 – 806-1840.
