The Xantrex Freedom X 1000 is a compact 12-volt true sine wave inverter designed to supply clean 120-volt AC power aboard boats, recreational vehicles, commercial trucks and specialty vehicles. It produces 1,000 watts of continuous output at temperatures up to 40°C, delivers up to 2,000 watts of surge power and includes an automatic 30-amp AC transfer relay for hardwired systems connected to shore power or another external AC source.

Certification and Marine Installation Notice
The Freedom X 1000 is ETL listed to CSA 107.1, UL 458 and the UL 458 Marine Supplement. Xantrex specifies drip shield part number 808-1050 when UL 458 Marine Supplement compliance is required. Marine installations must also follow applicable ABYC E-11 and A-31 requirements for conductor sizing, grounding, overcurrent protection, ventilation and equipment placement.
Fitment Notice
Confirm that the installation uses a nominal 12-volt battery bank and that the connected AC loads remain within the inverter’s 1,000-watt continuous and 2,000-watt surge ratings. At full output, the inverter draws approximately 100 amps from the DC system before allowing for cable and installation losses, so battery capacity, conductor size, fuse protection and cable length must be considered before installation.
When This Product Needs Replacement
Inspect or replace the inverter if it repeatedly shuts down under loads it previously supported, fails to transfer correctly between external AC and inverter power, produces recurring low-voltage, overload or over-temperature faults, or shows evidence of overheated terminals, corrosion or internal electrical failure.
Test the battery bank, DC cable voltage drop, AC input and external circuit protection before replacing the inverter. Weak batteries, loose connections and undersized conductors can produce symptoms similar to inverter failure.
Installation Notes
Install the inverter in a dry, ventilated location protected from water, excessive heat and fuel vapours. Use appropriately sized marine-grade DC conductors, a correctly rated battery fuse and an accessible battery disconnect. Keep DC cable runs as short as practical and follow the Xantrex installation instructions for mounting orientation, grounding, ventilation and AC wiring.

Parts Desk Insight
The Freedom X 1000 is an inverter-only model. If the installation also requires battery charging, the Freedom XC 1000 (817-1050) adds a 50-amp multistage charger in a similar form factor. If higher AC output is needed, the Freedom X 2000 (817-2000) doubles the continuous wattage. Confirm whether the installation requires AC inversion alone or a combined inverter/charger before ordering.
