Groco ARG-1000-S Bronze Raw-Water Strainer — 1" Hose | #304 SS Basket
Keep your raw-water cooling and washdown systems running clean with this heavy-duty bronze strainer. The Groco ARG-1000-S is designed for 1" hose connections and filters debris before it reaches your engine heat exchanger, generator, air conditioning system, or other raw-water equipment — protecting impellers and heat exchangers from the grit, weed, and shell fragments that come with every intake stroke.
The see-through screw-on cap lets you check the basket condition at a glance without tools, and the quick-release mounting system means cleaning takes seconds, not a trip to the toolbox. O-ring seals at the cap and between the strainer head and sight glass keep the system tight under both pressure and vacuum.

Important
Not suitable for potable (drinking) water systems. Do not use chemical or abrasive cleaners on the sight glass.

Best use case: The ARG-1000-S is the most common size for single-engine inboard installations with 1" raw-water intake lines — a standard fit for many auxiliary sailboat engines and smaller powerboat cooling circuits. If your hose size differs, the ARG series covers the full range: ARG-500-S (1/2"), ARG-750-S (3/4"), ARG-1250-S (1-1/4"), ARG-1500-S (1-1/2"), ARG-2000-S (2"), and ARG-2500-S (2-1/2"). For routine maintenance, the GROCO ARG-2 Service Kit covers the ARG-1000-S with replacement O-rings and basket. For older ARG strainers (pre-August 2001), the ARG-506 Drain Wingnut & O-Ring is the correct service part.
