Replace during bearing carrier disassembly, resealing work, or any time gear lube leakage or water intrusion is traced to the bearing carrier. Reusing a compressed or damaged lip seal risks repeat leaks after reassembly.

Clean mating surfaces thoroughly before installation. Follow the Mercury service manual for correct seal orientation, press depth, and lubrication. Replace related seals and O-rings disturbed during disassembly.
