Premium Sonar. Versatile Shaft. 24V GPS Precision.
The Minn Kota Terrova 80 lb with MEGA Down Imaging and a 60" shaft is the most versatile configuration in the 80 lb MEGA family. The 60" shaft fits the widest range of freshwater boat bow heights, while Humminbird® MEGA Down Imaging — built directly into the motor head — delivers crystal-clear underwater detail without a separate transducer. Pair that with Spot-Lock® GPS anchoring and AutoPilot™ heading control, and you have a complete bow-mount system for serious freshwater fishing.

Parts Desk Insights
Best Use Case: The Terrova 80 lb / 60" / 24V MEGA is the top recommendation in the 80 lb lineup for anglers who want the best integrated sonar available without stepping up to a 36V / 112 lb system. The 60" shaft is the most universally correct choice for mid-size freshwater boats with bow heights of approximately 22"–28" — making this the default MEGA pick for aluminum and fiberglass boats in the 17–22 ft range. If a customer is deciding between CHIRP and MEGA, this is the model to recommend when sonar quality matters.
MEGA vs. CHIRP: MEGA Down Imaging produces significantly sharper, more photo-realistic underwater images than Dual Spectrum CHIRP. CHIRP excels at fish detection and structure identification; MEGA adds the visual clarity to see exactly what you’re looking at. Both are included in this motor. If you’re on the fence, MEGA is the better long-term investment.
Important: MEGA Down Imaging is not available in the 72" shaft configuration for the 80 lb family. If a customer needs a 72" shaft and MEGA imaging, the correct step-up is the Terrova 112 lb / 72" with MEGA Down Imaging.
Shaft Selection Tip: A general rule is to add 16" to your bow height to determine the minimum shaft length needed. Measure from the waterline to the top of the bow mount before ordering. The 60" shaft is typically correct for bows measuring 22"–28" above the waterline.
24V Battery Setup: Requires two 12V batteries wired in series. Use matched batteries of the same age, type, and capacity. AGM or lithium in the 100–120 Ah range recommended for a full day of fishing.
