The short straight inlet suits installations where clearance below the pump mount is limited — the compact inlet profile fits where a long straight inlet won’t clear. This model (56434) is the entry-level option in the short straight inlet range, making it a practical choice for smaller livewells and baitwells where a high-output pump isn’t needed. For more output in the same short straight configuration, step up to the Attwood 56534 or the Attwood 56634. If your installation has enough depth below the mount for a longer inlet, the long straight inlet versions — Attwood 56504 and Attwood 56604 — draw from deeper in the tank.
