Raymarine A06045 – NMEA 2000 (DeviceNet Female) to SeaTalkNG Spur Adaptor Cable, 400mm

The A06045 is a short 400 mm (1.3 ft) adaptor cable that bridges an NMEA 2000 (DeviceNet) device to a Raymarine SeaTalkNG network spur connection. One end carries the metal, threaded NMEA 2000 DeviceNet Female connector that attaches to the device’s standard NMEA 2000 output port; the other end terminates in a white SeaTalkNG Spur Female connector that plugs into the spur socket on a SeaTalkNG T-piece or 5-way connector block. This allows a standard NMEA 2000-compatible instrument or sensor to join and communicate across a Raymarine SeaTalkNG backbone without any additional hardware.

Product Details

  • Part Number: A06045
  • Brand: Raymarine
  • Type: NMEA 2000 to SeaTalkNG Spur Adaptor Cable
  • Length: 400 mm (1.3 ft / 0.4 m)
  • Device-Side Connector: NMEA 2000 DeviceNet Female (metal, threaded)
  • Network-Side Connector: SeaTalkNG Spur Female (white, 5-pin)
  • System: NMEA 2000 device → SeaTalkNG backbone via spur port
  • SKU: 152-A06045

Compatible Applications

  • Connecting any third-party NMEA 2000 (DeviceNet) instrument or sensor to a Raymarine SeaTalkNG backbone network
  • GPS/GNSS sensors, AIS transponders, engine monitors, wind sensors, depth transducers, and other NMEA 2000-compatible devices with a DeviceNet Female output port
  • Installations where the NMEA 2000 device mounts within 400 mm of a T-piece spur socket or 5-way connector block on the SeaTalkNG backbone
  • Mixed-network vessels running Raymarine SeaTalkNG as the primary backbone alongside non-Raymarine NMEA 2000 sensors

How It Works

SeaTalkNG and NMEA 2000 are electrically compatible standards that share the same data protocol but use different physical connectors. Raymarine uses a proprietary white 5-pin connector for SeaTalkNG spur connections, while most NMEA 2000 devices use the industry-standard threaded metal DeviceNet connector. This adaptor cable bridges the two connector types in a compact 400 mm run, placing the NMEA 2000 device onto the SeaTalkNG network as a standard node without any signal conversion.

Connector Orientation Guide

Getting the connector direction right matters when ordering from the NMEA 2000 adaptor family:

  • This cable (A06045): DeviceNet Female (device side) → SeaTalkNG Spur Female (network side) — 0.4M cable
  • A06079: DeviceNet Female (device side) → SeaTalkNG Spur Female (network side) — longer cable version
  • A06082: DeviceNet Female → SeaTalkNG Male straight adaptor (passive, no cable)
  • A06084: DeviceNet Female → SeaTalkNG Male right-angle adaptor (passive, no cable)
  • A06076: SeaTalkNG → DeviceNet Male adaptor cable — 1M (opposite orientation)

Parts Desk Insights

Best Use Case: The A06045 is the cleanest solution when you have an NMEA 2000 sensor or instrument with a standard DeviceNet Female port and want to plug it directly into an open spur socket on your SeaTalkNG backbone. The 400 mm length is designed for close-mount situations — for example, a GPS sensor or AIS unit mounted directly adjacent to a T-piece or 5-way block. Because it’s a cable rather than a rigid adaptor, it offers a small amount of positioning flexibility between the device port and the spur socket.

Common Issues: The most frequent source of confusion is connector gender and orientation — always verify that your NMEA 2000 device has a DeviceNet Female port (the standard output on most sensors) before ordering this cable. If your device has a DeviceNet Male port, a different adaptor will be required. Also confirm the mounting distance: at 400 mm the cable provides almost no routing slack, so the device needs to be very close to the spur socket. If more distance or flexibility is needed, see the A06079 for a longer version of the same adaptor cable.

Technical FAQ

Does this adaptor convert the signal between NMEA 2000 and SeaTalkNG?
No signal conversion takes place. SeaTalkNG and NMEA 2000 use the same data protocol (NMEA 2000 / ISO 11783). This cable is a passive connector adaptor only — it bridges the two different physical connector formats without altering the data.

Will my NMEA 2000 device receive power through this adaptor?
Yes — the SeaTalkNG backbone supplies 12 V DC power through the spur connection, which passes through this cable to the NMEA 2000 device, just as it would on a standard NMEA 2000 network. Confirm your device’s power draw is within the backbone’s capacity.

Can I use this cable to connect a SeaTalkNG device to an NMEA 2000 network?
This cable is designed for NMEA 2000 DeviceNet Female devices connecting to a SeaTalkNG spur socket. For the reverse orientation, see the A06076 adaptor cable.

Is 400mm long enough?
The 400 mm cable is designed for close-mount installations where the device is adjacent to the spur socket. If your device is further away, see the A06079 for a longer adaptor cable in the same configuration.
