Raymarine A06049 – SeaTalkNG Power Cable
The A06049 is the dedicated power cable for a Raymarine SeaTalkNG network backbone. It connects your vessel’s 12 V DC electrical system to the SeaTalkNG backbone, supplying the power that the backbone distributes to every connected instrument, sensor, and display via their spur cables. Without a power cable, a SeaTalkNG backbone will not operate — this is the component that brings the entire network to life.
Product Details
- Part Number: A06049
- Brand: Raymarine
- Type: SeaTalkNG Backbone Power Cable
- Connection: SeaTalkNG backbone spur port to bare-wire 12 V DC leads (fused)
- System: SeaTalkNG / NMEA 2000-compatible network backbone

Compatible Applications
- Any Raymarine SeaTalkNG backbone installation requiring a dedicated power feed from the vessel’s 12 V DC supply
- Custom backbone builds where individual components are sourced separately rather than as a kit
- Replacement power cable for an existing SeaTalkNG backbone where the original has been lost or damaged
- Vessels using the T70134 SeaTalkNG Starter Kit and extending to a full backbone requiring a separate power feed point
- NMEA 2000-compatible backbone installations using SeaTalkNG infrastructure
System Overview
The SeaTalkNG backbone is a bus network that runs the length of the vessel, connecting Raymarine electronics via T-pieces and spur cables. The backbone requires a single 12 V DC power connection — provided by this cable — which then distributes power to all devices connected via spur cables. The power cable connects to a spur socket on any T-piece or 5-way block along the backbone. It includes an in-line fuse to protect the backbone and connected devices. Only one power cable is typically needed per backbone segment.
Parts Desk Insights
Best Use Case: The A06049 is essential for any SeaTalkNG backbone built from individual components. If you’re assembling your own backbone using backbone cables, T-pieces, and terminators rather than purchasing a complete kit, this power cable is the piece that’s easiest to overlook — and the one the network absolutely cannot run without. Connect it to any available spur socket on the backbone, route the bare-wire leads to a fused 12 V DC supply, and the backbone is powered.
Common Issues: The most common install oversight is forgetting to connect the power cable before testing the network — a SeaTalkNG backbone with no power feed will show no devices on the network and is frequently mistaken for a wiring or termination fault. Also confirm the power cable’s fuse rating matches your backbone load, and ensure the bare-wire leads are connected with correct polarity (red to positive, shield/black to negative). If you’re using the E22158 Backbone Kit, the A06049 is already included — no need to order separately.

Technical FAQ
How many power cables does a backbone need?
A standard SeaTalkNG backbone requires one power cable. It can connect to any spur socket along the backbone trunk — ideally positioned near the middle of the backbone run to distribute power evenly, though any location will work electrically.
Does this cable include a fuse?
Yes — the A06049 includes an in-line fuse. Do not bypass or replace the fuse with a higher-rated one than specified by Raymarine. If the fuse blows repeatedly, investigate the backbone load and wiring before replacing it.
Can I connect the power cable to a T-piece that already has a spur device plugged in?
Each T-piece has one spur socket. If all spur sockets are occupied by device spur cables, use a 5-way connector block (A06064) which provides four spur sockets, leaving room for both device spurs and the power cable.
Is this compatible with NMEA 2000 backbones?
The A06049 is designed for Raymarine SeaTalkNG backbones. SeaTalkNG and NMEA 2000 use the same electrical standard, but SeaTalkNG uses proprietary connectors. This power cable uses the white SeaTalkNG spur connector and is not directly compatible with DeviceNet NMEA 2000 power cables.
