Raymarine A06041 – SeaTalkNG Spur Cable, 5M
The A06041 is a 5-metre (16.4 ft) SeaTalkNG spur cable — the longest pre-made spur cable in the Raymarine SeaTalkNG range — designed to connect an individual instrument, sensor, or display to the SeaTalkNG backbone where the device is mounted well away from the nearest junction point. Like all SeaTalkNG spur cables, it uses the white 5-pin spur connector at both ends and carries both network data and 12 V DC power from the backbone to the connected device in a single cable run.
Product Details
- Part Number: A06041
- Brand: Raymarine
- Type: SeaTalkNG Spur Cable
- Length: 5 m (16.4 ft)
- Connector Type: SeaTalkNG spur (5-pin, white) — backbone spur end and device end
- System: SeaTalkNG / NMEA 2000-compatible network
- SKU: 152-A06041
Compatible Applications
- Connecting any Raymarine SeaTalkNG-compatible instrument, sensor, or display to the backbone where the device is located 3–5 m from the nearest T-piece or 5-way block
- Autopilot course computers, instrument displays, wind sensors, depth transducers, AIS receivers, and other SeaTalkNG devices in remote mounting locations such as a mast base, stern, or engine room
- Installations with complex routing paths — through lockers, under sole boards, or around structural members — where the actual cable run is significantly longer than the straight-line distance
- Vessels using the E22158 SeaTalkNG Backbone Kit or T70134 SeaTalkNG Starter Kit where individual device spur cables are specified separately per device location
- Replacing a damaged or undersized spur cable on an existing SeaTalkNG installation
Spur vs. Backbone — What’s the Difference?
The backbone is the main trunk cable running the length of the vessel, using blue locking connectors. Spur cables branch off the backbone at T-pieces or 5-way blocks and connect to individual devices using the white 5-pin spur connector. Spur cables are not interchangeable with backbone cables and must not be joined end-to-end. If you need a backbone segment rather than a device connection cable, see the A06035 3M Backbone Cable or A06036 5M Backbone Cable.
Spur Cable Length Comparison
- A06039 – 1M (3.3 ft) — Device close to the backbone junction
- A06040 – 3M (9.8 ft) — Device at moderate distance or with indirect routing
- A06041 – 5M (16.4 ft) — This product — device well away from the junction or complex routing path
Parts Desk Insights
Best Use Case: The 5M spur is the right choice for devices in remote locations relative to the backbone — think a wind transducer at the mast base with the backbone running through the cabin, a depth sensor at the stern, or an autopilot course computer mounted in the engine room. It’s also the smart pick when you’re not certain of the exact routing path during planning; the additional length gives you the flexibility to route cleanly without coming up short.
Common Issues: The most common mistake with the 5M spur is over-ordering when a shorter cable would actually fit — excess spur cable has to be carefully secured or coiled, which adds clutter to an otherwise clean installation. Always measure the actual routing path (not just the straight-line distance) before selecting a length. As with all spur cables, do not attempt to extend or join two spur cables in series — if 5M isn’t enough, the right solution is to move a T-piece closer to the device or redesign the backbone layout. If the device is not appearing on the network after connection, verify both spur connectors are fully clicked and locked at the T-piece socket and the device port.

Technical FAQ
Can I join two spur cables to make a 10M run?
No — spur cables must not be chained or extended end-to-end. Each spur runs directly from a single backbone junction to a single device. If 5M isn’t long enough, move a T-piece or 5-way block closer to the device along the backbone.
Does this cable carry power to my device?
Yes — SeaTalkNG spur cables carry both data and 12 V DC power from the backbone to the device. No separate power cable is needed for most SeaTalkNG instruments.
How many spur cables can connect to one backbone?
SeaTalkNG supports up to 50 network nodes. Each T-piece provides one spur socket; a 5-way connector block provides four spur sockets plus two backbone ports.
Is this compatible with NMEA 2000 DeviceNet devices?
SeaTalkNG spur connectors are Raymarine-proprietary and are not directly compatible with DeviceNet plugs. Use an adaptor such as the A06076 or A06082 for NMEA 2000 DeviceNet devices.
What is the maximum spur length allowed on a SeaTalkNG network?
Raymarine specifies a maximum spur length of 6 m. The A06041 at 5 m is within spec and leaves 1 m of headroom for connector slack and routing adjustments.
